Four Tigers Qualify for NCAA Individual Championships as Clemson wraps up play at ITA All-Americans

TULSA, Okla - Viktor Markov reached the Semifinals in the singles draw at the ITA All-American Championships this week to qualify for the NCAA Individual Singles Championship in November. Markov and doubles partner Noa Vukadin, as well as the pairing of Matisse Farzam and Tiago Pires, qualified for the NCAA Individual Doubles Championship. 

Overall, the Tigers put together a strong week of competition- earning six ranked singles wins and 10 ranked doubles victories, posting a 36-10 overall record, the most wins of any team. Additionally, three doubles pairings reached the tournament’s main draw, the most of any school. 

Markov led the way for the Tigers in singles, picking up two ranked wins en route to an appearance in the championship bracket semifinals. Noa Vukadin delivered a solid performance, defeating three ranked opponents and advancing to the consolation quarterfinals with a 6-2 overall record. Matisse Farzam earned a 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-3 ranked win over No. 73 Guilleme (Wake Forest) during qualifying. 

In doubles, Clemson posted 10 ranked wins, and two pairs qualified for the Individual Championship. Markov and Vukadin defeated five ranked opponents during a run to the tournament semifinals, including wins over the No. 6-ranked pairing of Cooper Woestendick and Albert Pedrico Kravtsov from TCU and the No. 20-ranked pairing of Abel Forger and Mariano Dedura-Palomero from Virginia. 

Matisse Farzam and Tiago Pires battled through the consolation bracket to claim their spot in the NCAA Individual Doubles Championship. The pair earned six ranked wins throughout the tournament, including over the No. 29- and No. 30-ranked pairs in the country. The pair went 6-1 overall, with a lone loss to #15 Aidan Kim and Bryce Nakashima of Ohio State. 

The Tigers will be back on the court this week as they compete in the Columbus Challenger and M15 ITF Futures in Ann Arbor, MI.
