CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers officially completed the final day of the Orange and Purple Invitational on Saturday, January 25 at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex.

“It was a great weekend overall,” Director of Track and Field Mark Elliott said. “Both teams are coming together well and we had great performances on both sides that will help with ACC qualifiers and NCAA qualifiers as well.”

Sophomore Brian Kweyei owned the day as he set the program record in the men’s 800 meters which was previously held by Tarees Rhoden. Kweyei ran an incredible 1:46.26, a personal best time for him. Multiple Tigers improved their marks and times on the all-time list while others found themselves on the list for the first time.

Clemson continues to improve as they inch closer to the ACC Indoor Championships with only two home meets left in the indoor season.

Meet Highlights:

  • Brian Kweyei set a new school record in the Men’s 800m. His 1:46.26 broke Tarees Rhoden’s mark of 1:46.61 set in 2023.
  • The Women’s 800 meters saw more records rewritten; Judy Kosgei’s 2:04.38 was the ninth fastest time in Clemson history.
  • Silvia Jelelgo ran the Women’s 3000m in 9:16.52, the second fastest time in school history.
  • Sawyer Dagan cracked the top-10 list in the Men’s 3000m, finishing with a time of 8:09.50
  • Christianne Akintayo records a new personal best in the women’s shot put with a throw of 14.36m
  • Oneka Wilson and Mackenzie Osher both ran their personal best times in the women’s 200 meters
  • Leupold Wang recorded a new personal best in the men’s high jump at 1.91m
  • Clemson finished first in the women’s DMR and holds the No. 1 time in the NCAA at 11:27.55
  • In the women’s 4×400 relay, the Clemson A team enter the all-time list as they ran a seasons best of 3:34.49 to place No. 3 all-time
    • The B team finished first in their heat with a time of 3:37.77
  • In the men’s 4×400 relay, the men ran a seasons best time to secure third place in the event

Up next, the Tigers will compete and host the two-day Bob Pollock Invitational starting on January 31 at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex.
