Clemson, S.C. – After starting the season with three wins against non-conference teams, the No. 19 Clemson Tigers will play their first ACC opponent, Duke, in Durham, N.C. on Saturday, February 24 at 12:00 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ACCN and live stats will be available here.
The Tigers are coming off of a decisive 16-5 win over Coastal Carolina in front of 1,071 fans at their new Lacrosse Complex. In the game, seven different Tigers scored two or more goals, with freshman Jasmine Stanton leading the way as she scored her first career hat trick.Â
Claire Bockstie continues to lead Clemson in total points (16) and assists (8), while Regan Byrne remains the leading scorer with nine goals on the season. Clemson enters Saturday’s game in the top 25 nationally in eight different statistical categories: attendance, caused turnovers, scoring defense, save percentage, ground balls per game, scoring margin, clearing percentage and free position percentage.Â
Duke is led by seasoned Head Coach Kerstin Kimel, Associate Head Coach Nick Williams, and Assistant Coaches Brooke Bailey and Sarah Cooper. The Blue Devils leading scorer from last year, Katie DeSimone, has continued to lead Duke in goals scored this season as she has put 19 goals in the net.Â
The last time these two teams met, Clemson upset Duke 11-10 at home. The win propelled Clemson to its first national ranking and marked the teams first ever win over a ranked ACC opponent. The whole game was back-and-forth but Clemson got the last say as Sofia Chepenik scored the game tying goal with 3:11 left and the game winning goal with 2:31 left in the game. This Saturday will mark Clemson’s first game ever played at Duke.Â
