Tigers Aim for Best Start in Three Seasons, Host Lancers in Littlejohn

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers women’s basketball team is looks to get back in the win column as it hosts the Longwood Lancers in Littlejohn Coliseum. The game will tip off at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 19 and can be seen on ACCNX. Clemson and Longwood will start after the Clemson men’s basketball game against Boise State at 1:00 p.m. Those who have a ticket to the men’s game will receive free admission to the women’s game.

The Tigers have tipped off the season with a 3-1 start. A win on Sunday would give the program its best start to a season since 2020-21 season when the Tigers got off to a 6-0 start.

Amari Robinson, a 2022-23 All-ACC performer, leads the Tigers with an average of 16.5 points per game. Her 7.0 rebound per game average is tied with MaKayla Elmore for the team lead.

Clemson has six student-athletes who transferred in this season, and 51% of the Tigers’ scoring this year has come from players who were at different schools last season. Maddie Cluse, who was previously at Miami (OH), leads all transfer Tigers in scoring and is averaging 10 points per game.

In addition to the talent on this year’s squad, the Tigers have signed two new players to their history-making signing class last week. Clemson signed five-star guard Imari Berry, the number 13 player in the country per ESPN. Berry is also the highest-rated signee in Clemson women’s basketball history. Berry was recently named to the Naismith Trophy watchlist. The Naismith Trophy is given annually to the top high school player in the nation. CU is also excited to announce the signing of Morgan Miller, a 6-2 forward from Minnesota who averaged over 12 points per game in her junior season.

Clemson is led by Amanda Butler who is in her sixth season at the helm of the Tiger program. She recorded her 300th win as a head coach in a 71-41 win on November 6, 2023 against Winthrop. Amanda Butler and Longwood head coach Erika Lang-Montgomery were college teammates at the University of Florida in the early 90’s.

Clemson and Longwood have only played each other once in program history back in 2014. The Tigers reigned victorious with a 72-56 win.
