Clemson Women’s Lacrosse Announces Inaugural Signing Class

CLEMSON, S.C. — The first Clemson women’s lacrosse signees have put pen to paper on National Signing Day, marking Head Coach Allison Kwolek’s inaugural recruiting class. In total, the signing class includes seven student-athletes that will be arrive on campus in the fall of 2022.

“We are very excited to announce our inaugural recruiting class at Clemson,” Kwolek said. “This class will have the unique opportunity to start a program from scratch when they arrive on campus, and really have an opportunity to set the tone for the Tiger women’s lacrosse program. We can’t wait to get them on campus and get to work.”

Ava DeLyra – Goalie

A South Carolina native, DeLyra will arrive at Clemson as one of the most accomplished goalies in the state. She attended Wando High School, where she captained the women’s lacrosse team in 2021, and played for the Long Island Top Guns. She was named to the 2021 Under Armour All America South Highlight team, the  2021 South Carolina All-State first team, and team South Carolina at the 2021 USA Lacrosse National Tournament. DeLyra was also named the 2021 South Carolina Lower State Player of the Year.

Paris Masaracchia – Defense

The lone defender of the class, Masaracchia is a four-time Under Armour All American. As the Bishop Shanahan High School Defensive MVP, she led her team to the PIAA District 1, AA Championship. She was a member of the USA Select U18 team, and was named to the Lacrosse Magazine National Players to Watch List.

Kasey Beach – Midfield

Beach hails from Urbana, Md. where she was a three sport varsity athlete at Urbana High School (lacrosse, track, field hockey). As a midfielder, she was named to the All-County first team.

Erin Hickey – Midfield

As a three sport varsity athlete (soccer, basketball, lacrosse) at Farmingdale High School in Farmingdale, N.Y., Hickey helped lead her team to the 2019 county championship from the midfield position. She was named to the LILJ Class of 2022 Watch List and was a member of the 2021 American Select team.

Sophie Waters – Midfield

Waters is a midfielder on the top ranked high school in the south and No. 17 in the nation, Milton High School. She has won two high school state championships and was named to the 2022 All-America Watch List as well as the Under Armour 150 athlete list.

Julian Bell – Midfield/Attack

As the team captain in 2021 and 2022, Bell has been a crucial component of Bedford High School’s team. A member of the team’s midfield/attack, she was recognized with the team’s “Bulldog Award” which is given to the MVP as well as the player that demonstrates the most leadership on and off the field. Her performance earned her a spot on the 2021 New Hampshire Lacrosse Pre-Season All-State Watch List, as well as the 2021 New Hampshire Lacrosse All-State Team.

Sofia Chepenik – Attack

Chepenik was named the captain and ultimately MVP of her high school team in both 2020 and 2021. She was a high school All-American for 2021, as well as a Gait top-20 all star. She participated in the South’s All-Star Game, and was recognized with ESPN’s Player of the Game award.
