Clemson vs. College of Charleston Post-Game Quotes

Dec. 23, 2010

Recap |  Box Score

Clemson Head Coach Brad Brownell

Overall Thoughts: “I’m obviously very proud of our team. This was a very good environment and a tremendous crowd tonight. We knew it would be a competitive game. I felt like we defended them about as good as you can. (Andrew) Goudelock was tremendous for them tonight, and he again got his 20 points. But, our guys were able to find a way to grind out a good win on the road. We executed much better offensively in the second half. Outside of the first four minutes, I thought we played very well defensively. Again, I’m just very proud of our guys for getting a big win.”

On the team’s confidence after winning in a tough environment: “We needed this after close losses on the road at South Carolina and Florida State. We needed to find ways to win a close, competitive game. The guys needed to find success this way. It was a great environment. There was a great contingent of Clemson people. They certainly could be heard, which helped us. We need to feel good about ourselves by winning close games on the road. We’ll be in difficult environments the rest of the season.”

On the return of Demontez Stitt: “He was tremendous tonight. He’s an unbelievably tough kid. When he was having the surgery, I was a little distraught because our team needed to put some practice time together to win some games. Our trainer told me that he heals quickly. He said he didn’t want to tell me he would be ready for Charleston, but he did say there was a chance it could happen. He progressed nicely throughout the week. He was hungry after having to sit out a couple of games. He made some big plays for us. The shot at the end was huge.”

On the play of his frontcourt: “We had a size advantage, and we wanted to go to them when we had opportunities. Jerai (Grant) has played really well of late. Devin (Booker) made some big-time plays down the stretch. I thought Milton (Jennings) did some good things. He had eight points and six rebounds. He settled in nicely after he had some initial nerves. They all made some big plays for us in the second half. I told those guys that they were the key to us winning the game, and they really did.”
