Clemson Baseball Advances To Omaha

CLEMSON, S.C. — Brian Ellis and Henri Stanley combined for six hits and five RBIs and Steve Reba got the win in long relief, leading Clemson to a 9-4 victory over Mississippi State Saturday night. The victory advances Clemson to the College World Series in Omaha, NEB next week.

It will be Clemson’s ninth trip to the College World Series, its first since 1996. The Tigers finished fourth that year behind current Major League Pitchers Kris Benson and Billy Koch. Clemson’s other CWS seasons have been 1958, 1959, 1976, 1977, 1980, 1991 and 1995. It was the fourth time that Clemson has advanced to the College World Series off a victory at Kingsmore Stadium. The other years Clemson won regionals at Clemson were 1980, 1995 and 1996.

It is not known when Clemson will play at the College World Series. The schedule will be announced Monday afternoon, but it is known that Clemson will have a game either next Friday or Saturday. Clemson’s opponent will be the winner of the Super Regional between San Jose State and Houston.
