Brooks, Cope Set School Records on First Day of Tiger Paw Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C – Clemson came out of the gate swinging to start the first day of the annual Tiger Paw Invitational as two members of the team set new school records. Along with several more PR’s, the day set the tone for an eventful start to the team’s final home meet of the season and lived up to the hype of what Program Director Mark Elliott referred to as “the best meet in the world this weekend.” Tomorrow looks to be a noteworthy day of striking excitement between some of the best track and field athletes in the country to finish out the final day of the Invitational.

FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

• Devon Brooks broke the school record in the 60 meter hurdles (7.56) by .03 seconds.
• Daniel Cope again broke his own school-record in the weight throw (21.43m)
• Shantae Foreman jumped an impressive 6.34m long jump, bumping her up to fifth on Clemson’s all-time top-10 list. Her previous season best was 6.24m.
• Courtney set a PR in the women’s 400 meter (54.62).
• Three hurdlers qualified for the finals, including Lafranz Campbell who set a personal best with a time of 7.70 seconds.
• Allison D’Alessandro jumped her way into  3rd on Clemson’s all-time top-10 list with a 4.04 meter pole vault. This striking mark resulted in a new person best from her previous best of 3.96m.
