BLACKSBURG, Va. – On the first day of competition at the ACC Championship Meet, Ethan Binnix set personal bests in all four of the day’s heptathlon events. His 7.29 in the 60 meter dash, 5.88m long jump, 10.39 shot put, and 1.53 meter high jump set on Thursday are all his new top marks.
The day concluded with the women’s and men’s distance medley relay, with the Clemson team of Andrea Foster, Mackenzie Osher, Brynne Sumner and Josie Wirtz finishing the relay in 11:33.37. The men’s relay team of Cole Myers, Aman Thornton, Carson Tillman and Michael Smith finished with their season-best time of 9:51.67.
Friday projects to be a thrilling day of competition, with 16 track events and seven field events to take place between noon and 7:20 p.m. Program Director Mark Elliott is looking forward to the continuation of an exciting weekend in Blacksburg.
“I think the effort by everyone on the track was good… The men ran our best time all season, and that’s all you can ask for. Of course, Ethan was setting personal bests all day in his first time in an event like that at the conference level, so I’m pleased with the way we started out and excited to see how we go tomorrow.”
