ORLANDO, Fla. – The Clemson Track and Field program officially completed it’s first meet of the 2025 outdoor season as they wrapped up the UCF Black and Gold Invitational on Saturday, March 22 in Orlando.

The Tigers performed well on both the men’s and women’s sides as they had multiple athletes record new personal bests and enter Clemson’s top ten list. Three individuals and one relay team secured first place finishes. Freshman Jalen Johnson finished first in the men’s 200 meters, Shanque Williams secured first place in the women’s 400 meters and Shantae Foreman tabbed first in the women’s triple jump.

In the women’s 4×400 relay, the Clemson A team which includes Kenya Thompson, Williams, Mackenzie Osher and Gladys Chepngetich ran the fastest time of the meet as the finished with a time of 3:33.27 to secure first place. The time is the currently the second fastest time in the nation.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

  • Ella Brooks entered the top ten list at No. 8 after throwing 53.11m in the hammer throw
  • Both Silvia Jelelgo and Brynne Sumner moved up the all-time list following their performances in the women’s 1500 meters
  • Freshman Jalen Johnson secured first place in the men’s 200 meters with the leading time of 20.77
  • Kirstin Hoffman entered the the top ten for the women’s pole vault after clearing 4.05m
  • Judy Kosgei now holds Clemson’s fourth fastest time in the women’s 800 meters after finishing 2:01.39
  • Freshman Shanque Williams had the fastest time of the meet in the women’s 400 meters after running 52.75, which puts her tenth on Clemson’s all-time list
  • Charles Bissonnette entered the top ten list at No. 9 after throwing 51.61m in the men’s discus
  • Shantae Foreman tabbed first place in the women’s triple jump as she jumped 13.64m
  • The Clemson women secured first place in the 4×400 relay as they ran the fastest time of the meet at 3:33.27, which is the second fastest time in the nation.

Up next, the Tigers will split as half the team is headed to Austin, Texas to compete at Texas Relays and the other half is headed to Raleigh, N.C. to compete at Raleigh Relays. Both meets are set to begin on Thursday, March 27.
