Summer League Tigers Recap

CLEMSON, S.C. – A total of 17 returning Tigers played in various summer leagues after the 2019 season, including 11 who played in the Coastal Plain League and five who played in the Cape Cod League.

Michael Green led the way by being named team MVP of Lexington County in the Coastal Plain League. Green, one of five Tigers selected to the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game, hit .337 with three doubles, two triples, six homers, 18 RBIs, 19 runs, a .400 on-base percentage and two steals in 27 games.

Evan Estridge (High Point-Thomasville), Elijah Henderson (Forest City), Matthew Lumsden (Forest City) and James Parker (Wilmington) were also Coastal Plain League All-Stars.

Estridge had a 4.55 ERA and 35 strikeouts against eight walks in 29.2 innings pitched over eight starts. Henderson hit .270 with four homers, 13 RBIs and 15 steals in 35 games. Lumsden batted .275 with five homers, 29 RBIs and a .402 on-base percentage in 31 games. Parker hit .259 with seven doubles and seven steals in 24 games.

Drew Donathan (Forest City), who hit five homers, Chad Fairey (Wilmington), who hit .262 with four homers and 25 RBIs, Bo Majkowski (Lexington County), who batted .333, and Mac Starbuck (Gastonia), who batted .262 with 14 steals, were four other hitters who had successful Coastal Plain League summer seasons.

Other Coastal Plain League pitchers included Andrew Coker (Florence) and Sheldon Reed (Lexington County), who had a 1.54 ERA and an .077 opponents’ batting average in 10 relief appearances.

Hitters Adam Hackenberg (Hyannis), Sam Hall (Yarmouth-Dennis) and Bryce Teodosio (Hyannis) joined pitchers Holt Jones (Hyannis) and Sam Weatherly (Falmouth) as Tigers in the Cape Cod League.

Utility player Matt Cooper played for Charlottesville and Front Royal in the Valley Baseball League as well.
