WTEN: No. 15 Tigers Earn 4-0 Victory over No. 69 Louisville

CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 15 Clemson Women’s Tennis (13-3, 3-1 ACC) wrapped up its first home weekend of ACC play with a 4-0 victory over No. 69 Louisville (7-4, 1-4 ACC) Sunday afternoon. 

In doubles play, the No. 26 ranked pair of Jade Groen and Rinon Okuwaki secured the first doubles match of the afternoon for the Tigers with a 6-3 win over Alice Otis and Lika Peresypkina on court one. On court three, Senior Romana Cisovska and Sophomore Candela Yecora took command of the match after the fourth game, dropping just one game to clinch the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Germany Davis and Lucia Gallegos. Talia Neilson-Gatenby and Artemis Aslanisvili were tied 5-5 with Berta Miret and Elena Noguero when the doubles point was clinched for the Tigers.

In singles, No. 103 Okuwaki made quick work of Davis on court two, dropping just one game through two sets en route to a 6-1, 6-0 victory in a match that lasted just an hour. Just three minutes after Okuwaki’s win on court two, No. 123 Ria Bhakta added the second singles point of the day in straight sets with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Rebekkah Gaines on court six. Groen dropped just three games on the way to a 6-2, 6-1 win on court one over Alice Otis to clinch the match for Clemson.  At the time of the clinch Neilson-Gatneby led Persypkina 6-4, 3-1 on court four while Aslanisvili led Miret 6-1, 4-2 on court five. On court three Noguero led Cisovska 7-6 (6), 0-1 at the time of clinch.

UP NEXT: Clemson is back at Duckworth Family Tennis Facility Thursday, March 12 to face off with No. 18 Virginia at 5 p.m. and is back on Sunday, March 14 at 12 p.m. for their sixth ACC matchup of the season to face Virginia Tech.
