Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 1 North Carolina

Clemson, S.C. — No. 1 North Carolina (14-0, 5-0 ACC) defeated the Clemson women’s tennis team (6-9, 0-6 ACC), 7-0, on Friday evening.

The Tigers dropped the doubles decision with consecutive losses at lines three and one, respectively. In singles, Clemson held early leads in each position before the Tar Heels surged back to take control of the match. Jenna Thompson won the first set against No. 6 Cameron Morra, 6-4, on Court 2 before ultimately falling in a 10-point tie break, 6-4, 3-6, 6-10. At line six, Lana Sipek held on to take the first frame against Alle Sanford, 7-5. However, after losing the second-set tie breaker, 1-7, the sophomore dropped the match, 7-5, 6-7 (1-7), 7-10.
