Women’s Tennis Falls to Auburn, 6-3

AUBURN, Ala. – The Clemson women’s tennis team was defeated by Auburn University, 6-3, Saturday morning in Auburn, bringing the Tigers record to 1-4.

Clemson junior Catherine Galvin was defeated at number one singles, by Auburn’s Andrea Piski, by a score of 6-2, 6-3. At two singles Clemson senior Cecilia Hincapie took the loss to Lucy Altman, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. The Tiger’s Christina Oldock fell at three singles to Simone Jardim, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Kate-Maree Mair of Clemson was defeated by Auburn’s Carolina Maurer, 6-4, 6-4, at four singles. At five singles Clemson’s Cynthia Clausen was victorious over Heidii Stewart, 6-4, 6-4. Clemson’s Meredith Chandler fell to Judith Boban, 6-4, 6-4 at the number six spot.

In doubles action, the Tigers Galvin and Mair fell to Auburn’s Piski and Stewart, 8-2. At two doubles, Oldock and Chandler of Clemson defeated Summa Edwards and Maurer, 8-6. Clemson’s Hincapie and Clausen handed Auburn’s Altman and Boban a loss at three doubles, 8-1.

Clemson (1-4) will travel to Virginia Tech next Saturday, February 28th to battle the Hokies at 11am.
