Women’s Soccer Continues 2000 Campaign

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s soccer team will continue its 2000 season this weekend as the Lady Tigers play host to the Clemson/Nike Invitational featuring Auburn, Clemson, Charlotte and Dayton.

On Friday, September 1, Charlotte will play Auburn at 4:30 p.m. and Clemson will play Dayton at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, September 3, Charlotte will play Dayton at 12:00 p.m. and Charlotte will play Clemson at 5:00 p.m.

Clemson is fresh off their season-opening sweep of the Clemson/Nike Kickoff Classic at Historic Riggs Field last Friday and Sunday. The Lady Tigers defeated UCLA 1-0 Friday and then beat Old Dominion 3-1 Sunday to finish their tournament 2-0 and start the season 2-0 as well.

The Charlotte 49ers enter the tournament 2-0 after wins over Virginia Tech (3-2) and Elon College (2-0). The Dayton Lady Flyers will enter the 2000 Clemson/Invitational with an overall record of 0-1 after a season-opening 2-1 loss to Evansville.

The Auburn Lady Tigers come into the weekend after an impressive start to the season. They have not allowed a goal in two games and have defeated Alabama A&M and Nicholls State by a combined 19-0.

The Lady Tigers will next play at South Carolina this Wednesday, September 6. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Columbia.
