Women’s Soccer Blanks Florida State

September 27, 1998

CLEMSON, SC– The Clemson Lady Tigers scored in the early minutes of both the first and second halves to defeat the Lady Seminoles 2-0 down in Tallahassee, FL this afternoon, September 27. The win ups the Lady Tigers’ record to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in ACC competition.

Jenny Crawford went in uncontested for a goal with just three minutes gone in the game. Her shot sailed just past Florida State goalie Jamie Gurton, who was kept on her toes as the Lady Tigers took 21 shots compared to just four for the Lady Seminoles. Gurton saved ten of those 21 shots. Nancy Augustyniak added an insurance goal, one minute into the second half. She was also unassisted on the play.

The Lady Tigers’ next action will be this Friday, October 2 and Saturday October 3, when they will host the ACC/SEC Challenge at Historic Riggs Field. The other schools participating are Kentucky, Lousiana State and Wake Forest. The men will also host their own tournament, the Clemson/Adidas Invitational, on Friday October 2 and Sunday October 4. The other schools included are Furman, New Hampshire, and California-Poly S.L.O.
