Women Finish Fifth, Men Sixth at Crimson Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In their final meet before the 2024 ACC Cross Country Championships, the men’s and women’s cross country teams completed the Crimson Classic on Friday, October 18 as the women finished fifth and the men sixth in Tuscaloosa. All Tigers ran a personal best for both the men and women.

“Great racing for both men’s and women’s teams today,” Head Coach Vicky Pounds. “We had some of our top runners sit out this race but we had some people set it up with solid performances. I’m looking forward to our ACC championships in two weeks.”

On the women’s side, freshman Silvia Jelelgo crossed the line first in the 6k as she finished the race with a time of 19:17.3. Jelelgo has finished in the top-three in every race she has run this season. Following Jelelgo was Chepngetich as she tabbed fourth place with a time of 19:35.8.

Senior Sawyer Dagan was the first Tiger to cross the finish line in the men’s 8k as he secured a seventh place finish with a time of 23:36.4. The time marks the fastest time for Dagan this season and is a new personal best.
