PREVIEW

  • The Clemson Tigers will travel to Syracuse, N.Y. to open ACC play against the Orange of Syracuse University on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m in a game that will be live on the ACCN.
  • Clemson comes into the game 5-3 following a 48-42 win at home against Presbyterian.  
  • Amari Robinson and Eno Inyang combined for 29 points and 17 rebounds as they led the Tigers to the win over the Presbyterian College Blue Hose on Sunday afternoon inside Littlejohn Coliseum. Clemson improves to 5-3 with the win while the Blue Hose falls to 4-4 on the year. 
  • Robinson recorded her first double-double with a season-high 17 points and 12 rebounds. The 12 rebounds by Robinson tied a career-high while Inyang finished with 12 points, five rebounds and added three steals in the win for the Tigers.
  • Syracuse comes into the game with a 6-4 record and 0-1 in ACC play. The Orange are on a four-game win streak which includes a win over then #18/20 Ohio State in the B1G/ACC Challenge. Cuse comes into the game with a 6-1 record at home and that lone loss against Notre Dame.  
  • The last time out for Cuse Najé Murray led the Orange with 18 points, three assists and six rebounds in an 85-55 win over Cornell. Murray added two steals to ‘Cuse’s 12. Syracuse improves to 6-4 overall and is now 6-1 at home this season. 
  • This will be the 11th meeting all-time between the Tigers and Syracuse with the Orange holding a 9-1 advantage in the series. Clemson picked up their first win in the series last season 86-77 in overtime at Littlejohn. The Tiger has yet to win a game at the Carrier Dome against Syracuse.
  • Washington leads Clemson in points (14.1 ppg), rebounds (7.0 rpg), and assists (2.5 apg) coming into the game on Saturday. 
  • Clemson scored 31 points in the second quarter against Columbia and that was the most in any quarter since moving to the quarter format back in 2015. The Tigers also scored 30 points in the first quarter of the Mount St. Mary’s game and that was the most points scored in the first quarter for Clemson since the NCAA moved to quarter play in 2015-16. 
  • Clemson has scored 292 points in the paint, 149 points off their opponents’ turnovers, and 93 fast-break points at this point in the season. 

ALLIANCE MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVE 

  • The ACC, Big Ten, and Pac-12 announced a joint initiative entitled “Teammates for Mental Health,” designed to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and wellness among their more than 27,000 student-athletes. 
  • This initiative builds upon the work all three conferences continue to dedicate toward mental health, including the creation of dedicated task forces and cabinets comprised of mental health professionals on campuses at the 41 world-class institutions that comprise the ACC, Big Ten, and Pac-12. 
  • The Alliance’s Teammates for Mental Health initiative includes a public service announcement (PSA) featuring women’s and men’s basketball head coaches and the commissioners from all three conferences. The 30-second PSA will air on ESPN, ACC Network, Big Ten Network, and Pac-12 Network, as well as on conference-owned digital and social media channels.

  • Pam Ward (play-by-play) and Angel McCoughtry (analyst) will be on the call of the ACCN broadcast. 
  • All games included in the ESPN package (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ACCN, ACCNX) will be available through ESPN, accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the ESPN app, and streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 or Xbox One to fans who receive their video subscriptions from an affiliated provider.
