Volleyball Falls at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Clemson volleyball team fell, 3-0 (17-25, 16-25, 21-25), to Syracuse Friday evening at the Orange’s Women’s Building. Clemson, now 5-12 on the season, was led by sophomore outside hitter Kaylin Korte, who posted a match-high 12 kills in addition to seven digs.

“I was really impressed and proud of the team effort that we gave tonight,” said Clemson head coach Michaela Franklin. “From an intensity and energy standpoint, I thought that every single member of our team brought something and you could definitely feel that, especially in the third set.”

Freshman libero Madi Howell totaled 13 digs on the night, tying the match-high alongside Syracuse libero Belle Sand.

“I also thought Madi Howell and Kaylin [Korte] had exceptional nights tonight. Kaylin had a nice stat line from a hitting standpoint and I thought she also executed for us while serving and passing. Madi Howell is starting to embrace the role of a libero and you’re beginning to see and feel her presence on the court. She’s been working extremely hard on that and we’re starting to see it. I’m proud of the direction our team is heading in.”

Up next, Clemson travels to Boston College (4-11, 1-4 ACC) Sunday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. in Power Gym. Live stats can be accessed at clemsontigers.com.
