NEW ORLEANS – The Clemson volleyball team earned runner-up status at the Sugar Bowl Classic Saturday. The Tigers’ comeback effort against Tulane in the title match came up just short as Clemson fell in five sets (22-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23, 10-25). Sophomore outside/right side hitter Alyssa Deloney and redshirt-sophomore Brooke Bailey were named to the All-Tournament Team.
For the weekend, Deloney averaged 3.17 kills per set and 0.67 blocks per set, while registering a team-best .429 hitting percentage. Bailey averaged 3.25 kills per set, while hitting .245 during the Tigers’ three-match weekend.
Additionally, ACC-leading freshman setter Gabby Easton averaged 11.33 assists on the weekend.
Up next, the Tigers open ACC play on the road at Boston College and Syracuse. Clemson will face the Eagles Friday at 7 p.m., and the Orange on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches are set to stream on ACC Network Extra.
