CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The University of Virginia swimming and diving team defeated Clemson in ACC action Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers’ men’s team defeated Clemson 156-87 and the women’s team lost to Virginia 93-150. The Tigers are 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the ACC.
The Tigers won seven events and swept the 400 medley relays. The Tiger women’s team of Kate Walker, Mandy Commons, Elise Thieler and Jenna Burtch won the medley relay with a time of 3:51.72 while the men’s team of Mark Henly, Matt Norman, John Dean and Will Rogers won the relay in 3:24.45. Patty Hider claimed the 50 freestyle in 24:19 and Courtney Ellis won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:20.68. Gregor Govse won the men’s 200 breaststroke. Craig Thomas won the 1m and 3m diving with scores of 258.45 and 282.60 respectively.
Clemson will host the University of South Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 11, at McHugh Natatorium. Meet time is set for 12:00 p.m.
