MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) – Itoro Umoh’s driving basket with 3.1 seconds left gave No. 14 Clemson a 60-58 victory over LSU at the ACC-SEC Challenge on Sunday.
Umoh, who scored 10 points, had tied the game for Clemson (10-0) at 58-all on a drive with 1:14 to go. LSU’s Detrina White missed a pair of free throws with 13.5 seconds to play, setting up Umoh’s winning basket.
LSU (8-2) missed a desperation shot from midcourt as time expired.
Clemson trailed the entire second half until Umoh’s tying score. Amy Geren kept the team close with 29 points, shooting 15-for-18 from the foul line.
No Clemson reserve took a shot or scored a point.
April Brown led LSU with 19 points and Marie Ferdinand added 12.
Clemson led 13-4, but LSU came back and led 30-26 at halftime. Brown’s 3-pointer extended the lead to 41-30 early in the second half.
Geren scored six straight points to cut LSU’s advantage to 43-42 with 10:59 left, but Katrina Hibbert made consecutive 3-pointers to push the lead back to 53-44.
Clemson’s victory gave the ACC a sweep of the two-game event. In the opener, North Carolina beat Alabama, 90-75.
