Two Tigers Win Flight at Debbie Southern Fall Classic

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Ali DeSpain and Daniella Medvedeva both came out on top of their flights on the final day of competition at the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic. Eleni Louka also picked up a victory in her Flight 2 match.

After battling back from a 0-6 first set loss in yesterday’s semifinal, DeSpain once again overcame a deficit to defeat Wake Forest’s Samantha Martinelli in three sets 5-7, 7-5, 6-2. Medvedeva also came out on top of an ACC opponent in UNC’s Carson Tanguilig. Louka earned a strong 7-5, 6-3 win over Wake’s Anna Campana.

“This was a great first tournament for us overall. I was proud of the way our team fought all weekend,” stated a pleased Head Coach Christy Lynch. “Ali had another tough battle and played great tennis at the end to win the match. She had a really good weekend. Eleni also played very well to win her match today. We are just excited to get back to work this coming week on some of the things that we’ve identified in each of their games.”
