AUBURN, Ala. – Two Tigers battled hard on the first day of the Auburn Invite.
Sophia Hatton started the Tigers off well by swiftly defeating Lucie Devier from the University of Mississippi 6-2, 6-3. Hatton will move on to the round of 32, where she is set to compete against Reka Zadori from the University of Mississippi tomorrow.
“Today we battled hard in singles, and I was proud of our competitive effort, attitude, and how we handled situations,” Head Coach Boomer Saia said, “We need to continue to grow with each day of this tournament and continue to take steps with our tennis! Excited to get back out there tomorrow!”
Alina Tsyurpalevych fought hard in her singles draw against Zadori, taking her match to three competitive sets till the end, 5-7, 6-4, 6-7 (7-9). In doubles, Hatton and Tryurpalevych were defeated 6-2.
