Two Clemson Women’s Basketball Players To Leave Team

July 13, 2006

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson women’s basketball head coach Cristy McKinney has announced that red-shirt junior Maxienne White and red-shirt senior Reggie Maddox will not return to the team for next season.

Maddox, a native of Dyersburg, TN, sat out the 2005-06 season due to academics but played in 26 games during 2004-05. She averaged 9.5 points and 5.0 rebounds that year. While leading the Lady Tigers in scoring, Maddox also posted team-highs with 86 assists and 48 steals. She recorded a double-double against South Carolina in 2004, totaling 17 points and 11 rebounds in Clemson’s overtime victory against the Gamecocks. Maddox played just one season with Clemson after transferring from Chipola Junior College.

“Reggie’s inability to maintain academic eligibility was the deciding factor in her not being able to continue at Clemson,” McKinney said. “We wish Reggie luck in her future endeavors.”

White led the Lady Tigers in both scoring and rebounding this past season, averaging 11.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. The Pensacola, FL native tallied at least 20 points in four contests during 2005-06, while recording 17 double-figure scoring games. She also posted seven double-doubles during the year, including a 20-point, 13-rebound performance against 22nd-ranked Boston College on Feb. 5. She scored a career high 23 points in Clemson’s victory over Wagner on Dec. 18 and also collected 13 rebounds in the contest.

“There are certain expectations for all the players in our program, and Max was not willing to abide by team rules and policies,” said McKinney.
