Two Athletes Earn Academic All-District Honors

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson swimmer Ginny Kirouac was named to the GTE Academic All-District III Women’s University Fall/Winter At-Large first team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Clemson women’s soccer player Katie Carson was a member of the second team.

Kirouac, a sophomore from Atlanta, GA, has a 4.00 GPA in business. She earned All-America Honorable Mention honors after placing 14th in the finals of the 400 IM at the national championships. Kirouac placed in the top eight in three individual events at the ACC Championships, including a third-place finish in the 400 IM. A member of the College Swim Coaches Association Academic All-America Team, Kirouac has been named to the Presidents’ List all three semesters at Clemson.

Carson, a sophomore from Chagrin Falls, OH, carries a 3.86 GPA in elementary education. Last season she started all 23 matches as a goalkeeper for the Clemson women’s soccer team, recording a 0.74 goals allowed averaged and 109 saves. This past season she broke a school record with 16 saves in the North Carolina match. She recorded 13 solo shutouts and was named to the Southeast All-Region Team and the ACC All-Tournament team in 1999.
