Tigers, Wolfpack Draw in Second Spring Match

Raleigh, N.C. – The Clemson men’s soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against the NC State Wolfpack on Saturday night at WRAL Field in Raleigh. The Tigers’ score came from a long-range strike off of the foot of Callum Johnson. In the match, Clemson led the Wolfpack in time of possession and shots taken, with the Tigers putting multiple attempts on frame.

Johnson, a graduate transfer from Boston College, has scored two of the team’s four goals through the opening two matches of the spring slate.

During Saturday’s match, George Marks logged 90 minutes in net for the second consecutive game. Marks has allowed only one goal this spring.

After 90 minutes of play, the Wolfpack would convert all five penalty kicks to win the shootout over the Tigers, 5-4. During the spring season, penalty kicks are only considered when determining the final opponent for a team in the spring season.

Clemson will now shift its focus to a highly anticipated match against Wake Forest on March 7 at 11 a.m. at Historic Riggs Field. The men’s match is the first in a double-header at Historic Riggs Field, as the women’s side will host Kennesaw State at 2:30 p.m. Admission to both contests are free for all spectators.
