Tigers Trash Bucs, 69-51

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) – Will Solomon scored 27 points to lead Clemson to a 69-51 victory against Charleston Southern Saturday night.

Solomon, who has led Clemson’s scoring in six of its seven games this season, was 8 of 16 from the field, 6 of 10 from 3-point range against the Buccaneers.

Nick Mitchell and Namiah Williams led Charleston Southern with 10 points each.

A 3-pointer by Charles White at the 10:22 mark in the first half gave Charleston Southern a 15-9 lead, but then the Buccaneers went 8:04 without scoring a point.

The Tigers (3-5) took their first lead at 16-15 on a single free throw by Ray Henderson with 6:31 remaining in the half.

Clemson outscored Charleston Southern 19-6 in the final 12 minutes of the first half to take a 25-18 lead at the half.

The Tigers scratched out some breathing room with a 19-10 run, including two 3-point goals by Solomon and Ed Scott each, in the first nine minutes of the second half for a 44-28 lead.

Clemson shot 62 percent from the field in the second half to finish at 50 percent for the game. The Buccaneers (1-4) made just 14 field goals and shot just 28 percent from the field.

Clemson had a season-high 25 turnovers against Charleston Southern’s full-court pressure, but the Tigers also forced 18 Buccaneer turnovers.
