Tigers Top ETSU in OT, 100-86

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) – Clemson rallied from a six-point deficit in the final 1:16 of regulation then dominated overtime to beat East Tennessee State 100-86 on Monday night.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Tigers (4-3).

Clemson dominated the boards, pulling down 28 more rebounds than the Buccaneers (5-2). But that was offset by 25 Clemson turnovers.

Sharrod Ford led the Tigers with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Shawan Robinson added 19 points and Chris Hobbs had 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Zakee Wadood led East Tennessee State with 24 points and a school record 10 steals. Ben Rhoda added 19 and Brad Nuckles scored 17 for the Buccaneers.

Clemson shot 55 percent (34-of-62) from the field, hitting 64 percent (16-of-25) of its shots in the second half and all three field goal attempts in overtime.

The Tigers trailed 82-76 with 1:16 remaining in regulation. Vernon Hamilton hit a free throw, then converted a turnover into a 3-point play with 51.9 left to cut the Buccaneer lead to 82-80.

Olu Babalola’s short jumper with 8.9 seconds remaining tied the game at 82 and Aaron Scott’s layup attempt at the buzzer rolled off the rim for East Tennessee State.

The Buccaneers scored first in overtime, but the Tigers went on to outscore East Tennessee State 18-4 in the extra period, including making 11 of their 13 free throws.
