Tigers Sweep Wake Forest in Dig Pink Match

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Volleyball secured its second win of the weekend and improved to 3-5 in ACC play after sweeping Wake Forest, 25-16, 25-14, 25-22, Sunday evening in Jervey Gym. The Tigers were led by Kaylin Korte and (13 kills) and Solei Thomas (10 kills).

The Demon Deacons hung around to open the first as the trailed Clemson by just two, 18-16, but the Tigers fired off seven straight points to close out the set with Emily Curtis behind the service line. The Clemson defense held Wake to just three kills in the opening same along with a -.172 hitting percentage. Sophomore Ashtynne Alberts led all hitters as she tallied five of her seven kills in set No. 1, while also hitting .385 for the set.

Starting the second set for the Tigers was Brooke Bailey, who made her first appearance in Sunday’s match for the first time in the last 10 matches. Her most recent log was against South Carolina on Sept. 12. Solei Thomas came alive in the second as she posted six of her 10 kills, including one in the midst of a 9-0 Tiger run that gave Clemson a 10-2 lead early in the first. Thomas hit .714 for game No. 2.

It was all Korte in the third as she capped off another impressive performance with five kills and no errors on six swings to hit .833 for the set. Additionally, freshman setter Mckenna Slavik dished out 15 of her 33 assists in the third and final set.

Up next, Clemson (9-10, 3-5 ACC) returns to Jervey Gym on Friday, Oct. 25 to host Miami at 7 p.m. Friday’s matchup against the Hurricanes is set to stream on ACCNX. For the Tigers’ complete 2019 schedule, click here.
