Tigers Sweep Virginia on Senior Day

CLEMSON, S.C. โ€“ The Clemson Volleyball team recorded its seventh sweep of the season and third over an ACC opponent after dominating Virginia (11-17, 3-12 ACC), 25-18, 25-20, 25-16, in Jervey Gym Sunday afternoon. The Clemson offense finessed one of its best performances of the season as Kaylin Korte (12), Ashtynne Alberts (9), Solei Thomas (9) and Alyssa Deloney (8) combined for 38 of the Tigersโ€™ 45 kills on the match. Defensive specialist/libero Emily Curtis tallied a match-high 10 digs on her Senior Day. Curtis was recognized after Sundayโ€™s action as the Denton, Texas native played her final home match of her career.

Clemson secured a 19-16 lead to open the first before closing out game No. 1 on a 6-2 run. Freshman setter Mckenna Slavik dished out 14 of her match-high 33 assists in the opening set.

The second was tied 18-18 before Clemson went on another late-set run โ€“ this one 7-2 โ€“ to claim the second and a 2-0 lead entering the break. Ava Pritchard registered five of her nine total blocks, also a match high, in game No. 2.

Coming out of the locker room, the Tigers carried their momentum into the third, jumping out to a 10-4 lead. Clemson would extend its lead and won the final three points of the match to even the season series (1-1) against the Cavaliers.

Up next, Clemson (11-16, 5-11 ACC) heads the Georgia Tech (17-8, 10-4 ACC) on Friday, Nov. 22. First serve scheduled for 7 p.m. in Oโ€™Keefe Gymnasium and is slated to stream on ACCNX. For the Tigersโ€™ complete 2019 schedule, click here.
