Tigers Sweep Louisville 4-0, Secure Third Conference Win

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Clemson Tigers secured their first road win of the season with a 4-0 sweep over Louisville. The win marked the Tigers third conference-play victory and their 11th win of the 2024 campaign.

“Today was a great team competitive performance for all the guys on court today,” Head Coach Brandon Wagner said. “They responded well after a tough match on Friday and showed great Tiger fight. Great for them to get a good road win against a great team. We are looking forward to our final home matches next week and having the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility packed for those matches.”

The Tigers brought the energy early in doubles as the duo of Wissam Abderrahman and Max Damm were first to secure a victory as they took down Louisville’s Nakanishi and Donnet 6-1, on court two. Louisville responded with a win on court three to even the doubles score, which left the No. 69 court one duo of Noa Vukadin and Max Smith to finish the job.

With a 6-4 victory, Vukadin and Smith tabbed their 13th win of the season and awarded Clemson the doubles point as the Tigers took the 1-0 lead.

Clemson continued to bring the heat in singles as the Tigers looked to secure a victory in their last road match of the regular season. Vukadin was first to finish on court three as he took down his opponent 6-3, 6-0 as he did not allow Matthew Fung to record a single point in the second set.

Next to shine for the Tigers was freshman Marko Mesarovic as his 6-4, 6-2 win on court four brought the Clemson lead to 3-0. Clinching the 4-0 victory for the Tigers was Max Smith as he tabbed a 7-5, 6-2 win over Louisville’s Kosuke Nakanishi.

Despite the other three singles matches being unfinished, the Tigers won the first set on all six courts against the Cardinals.

The Tigers officially wrapped up the road portion of their schedule as they are set to finish out the regular season at home. Up next, the Tigers will play host to Virginia on Thursday, April 11 at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. The match is slated for 5 p.m. and will mark Clemson’s Military Appreciation Match.
