AUBURN, Ala. – In its first road match of the 2022 season, the Clemson Tigers (5-1) suffered their first loss at the hands of No. 14 Auburn by a score of 7-0. After dropping an extremely close doubles point, Clemson wasn’t quite able to rally.
Samantha Buyckx and Ali DeSpain again won their doubles match on Court 3 which evened the doubles score at one apiece. Jenna Thompson and Eleni Louka had a chance to claim the doubles point for Clemson on Court 2, but fell just short in a tightly-contested 7-5 match.
In singles play, Thompson managed to win her first set over the 115 ranked Carolyn Ansari, but ultimately fell in three sets.
Up next, the Tigers return home to face College of Charleston on Saturday, Feb. 12. First serve from Duckworth Family Tennis Facility is slated for 1 p.m.
