Tigers Start Strong at Hokie Invitational, Set Numerous Top-10 Marks

BLACKSBURG, Va. — The first day of the Hokie Invitational was an eventful one for the Tigers, as five members of the team set All-Time Top-10 marks. Along with several more PR’s, the day made for a successful start to the team’s first road meet, and sets the stage for an exhilarating day 2. Full results from Friday are linked HERE.

FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Devon Brooks stole the show in a loaded 60mH field, setting a new PR in the prelims (7.68) only to break that mark in the final with a time of 7.64, giving him sole possession of the No. 3 spot on Clemson’s Top-10 list for the event. Two other Tigers set PR’s in the men’s 60m hurdles, including Giano Roberts, whose time of 7.72 put him in a tie for fifth on Clemson’s all-time list. Dashinelle Dyer’s 7.93 was also a personal best.
  • Freshman Daniel Cope once again shined in the weight throw, winning the event with a launch of 20.43 meters. Last week, he set Clemson’s all-time mark in the event with a 20.99m throw.
  • Andre Wright leaped into the record book with a triple jump distance of 15.60, good for second in the field.
  • Courtney Williams set a PR in the 300m (38.64) to finish fourth in an impressive fourth place out of a field of 25 extremely talented sprinters.
