Tigers Start Strong at ACC Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The first day of ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships proved eventful for Clemson, as four Tigers earned their place in the 200 meter dash finals and Tigers found themselves on the podium three times. The men’s team finished the day in fourth place with 13.5 points, while the women earned six points and find themselves in 10th place.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Marie Forbes broke the school record in the weight throw with a launch of 22.41 meters. That mark was good for third place and brought her first team All-ACC honors.
  • Daniel Cope threw a season-best 21.93 meters to finish third and earn his second first-team recognition in two seasons.
  • Ockera Myrie and Kiara Grant advanced to the finals of the 200 meter dash. Myrie’s 23.39 was a personal best and moved her to seventh all-time in school history. Grant’s 23.44 puts her eighth.
  • Cameron Rose improved upon his personal best in the 200 meter dash to advance to the finals with a time of 20.84 seconds. Wanya McCoy will join him in the finals after running a 20.95.
  • The men’s DMR team of Corentin Serbource, Aman Thornton, Tarees Rhoden and Victor Ndiwa earned second team All-ACC honors with a third-place time of 9:33.23.
  • Antoinette Van der Merwe set a personal best in the 200 meter dash (24.11 seconds).
  • Courtney Farishian’s 17:47.15 in the 5k was a personal best
  • Jackson Leech (14:29.96) and Sawyer Dagan (14:36.84) each set personal bests in the 5k.
  • Mason Corbin finished tied for seventh in the high jump with a 2.09 meter leap.
