Box Score

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) – Oregon State held Clemson to its lowest point total since 1970 in a 53-35 victory over the Tigers at the SoCon Holiday Hoops Tournament 3rd-place game.

Clemson (2-3) lost to South Carolina 34-33 in the 1970 Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.

The Beavers (3-1) limited the Tigers to 29 percent shooting and forced 17 turnovers Sunday.

Ramunas Petraitis scored 13 points to lead Oregon State.

Clemson’s Will Solomon scored after an offensive rebound to pull the Tigers to within 40-31 with 6:15 to play, but was called for an intentional foul on the next play when he pulled Adam Masten’s jersey on a breakaway. Masten hit one of two free throws to start the Beavers on a 10-2 run that put the game out of reach for the Tigers.

Oregon State only hit 6-of-10 free throws down the stretch, but Clemson could not take advantage at the other end.

Solomon led the Tigers with 10 points and Arturas Javtokas added eight, but one of Clemson’s top scorers this season, Adam Allenspach, was limited to two points by Oregon State center Jason Heide.

Clemson played another strong defensive game, limiting the Beavers to 37 percent shooting and outrebounding them 42-32, but that could not make up for the offensive woes. Allenspach led the Tigers with nine rebounds.

Both teams struggled in the first half when Oregon State took a 21-17 halftime lead.
