Tigers Show Promise at Tennessee Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Clemson Track and Field program began its fourth outdoor meet of the season on Friday at the Tennessee Relays, and saw success in many of the individual events. At the midway point of the regular season, the Tigers are certainly showing steady progression and promise as several of the team’s biggest names are showing that they will be forces to reckon with come championship season. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The men’s 110 meter hurdles was dominated by Clemson, as Devon Brooks won the event with a 13.57. He was closely followed by Giano Roberts and Lafranz Campbell. The three Tigers finished first, second and third in the field of 14.
  • Trishauna Hemmings took home the 100 meter hurdles crown, completing the race in 13.24 seconds. She was trailed by Antoinette Van der Merwe, whose 13.47 was third-best in the field of 22.
  • Courtney Williams set a PR in the 200 meter dash and finished second in the event out of 30 runners with her time of 23.84 seconds.
  • Giano Roberts continued his successful day with a win in the men’s 200 meter dash. His 21.15 second time was at the top of the field of 28.
  • Caroline Johnston continued her successful outdoor season, leaping a 5.92 meter long jump which placed her third in the event.

The Tigers did not compete in any of Saturday’s relays as a result of snow in Knoxville. Up next, Clemson travels to Florida for the Tom Jones Memorial Meet from April 15-16.
