Sunset, S.C. – The Clemson Women’s Golf team was 11-under-par over the course of 27 holes on Saturday to move into 9th place in the 15-team field at the Clemson Invitational at the Reserve at Lake Keowee with nine holes to play Sunday. Clemson is three-under-par overall through 45 holes.
The Tigers improved by 13 strokes in the second round, shooting five-under-par as a team in the second round and sit at six-under-par through nine holes of the third round. Thirteen of the 15 teams shot even par or better in the second round.
Due to the weather forecast, the final nine holes will begin Sunday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Admission is free.
Isabella Rawl shot a five-under-par 67 in the second round, which tied for the third-best round among all 84 players. Rawl is five-under on par fours through 45 holes, tied for second-best among all players in the field. Melena Barrientos fired a 70 (-2) in the second round, while Chloe Holder shot an even-par 72. Katherine Schuster was +2 on the second round.
Holder birdied three of her nine holes of the third round to move to one-under overall, while Rawl is two-under through nine and sits in 27th place overall at three-under for the tournament. Sydney Roberts is -2 in the third round.
Four Tigers are also playing as individuals, led by freshman Aitana Tuesta, who sits in a tie for 14th place at six-under for the tournament. Allison Paik eagled hole No. 1 Saturday from the fairway in her third round, and Juliette Demeaux is even through 45 holes.
No. 24 Ohio State leads the tournament after 45 holes at 36-under-par, ahead of the tournament record (-30) with nine holes to play. No. 2 Arkansas (-27), No. 32 Tennessee (-23), No. 11 LSU (-22) and No. 33 SMU (-17) round out the top five headed into Sunday.
