CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson’s women’s soccer team opened its season on Thursday night on Historic Riggs Field, defeating the Utah Utes, 2-0. The Tigers got goals from Hal Hershfelt and Dani Antieau. The game was part of the ACC Network’s launch, with the game being streamed on ACCNX.
Senior goalkeeper, Sandy MacIver, posted her first shutout of the new season, tallying four saves. The win marks the first clean sheet for Clemson since the 2018 ACC quarterfinal matchup against Boston College, when the Tigers claimed the win, 1-0.
The Tigers outshot the Utes, 13-5 in the match. Freshman Hal Hershfelt kicked off Clemson’s scoring for the year as she knocked in her first collegiate goal assisted by Renee Guion. In the 63rd minute, senior Dani Antieau put another goal away for the Tigers to extend the lead 2-0.
Clemson starts the season off 1-0 and will return action on Sunday, as Coastal Carolina comes into town.
