Clemson, S.C.—Doc Redman and Bryson Nimmer both shot two-under-par rounds of 69 to lead Clemson to a second straight three-under-par team score and a seventh-place ranking out of 15 teams at the Nike Elite at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club near Portland, Oregon. The Tigers stand at six-under-par through 36 holes with a 562 team score.
Stanford has the team lead at 547 and defending National Champion Oklahoma is second at 549. The Tigers are just seven shots out of third place entering the final round of the tournament that features 10 of the top 20 teams in the nation.
Redman had his second straight round in the 60s and is six under par with a 136 total after two rounds. He stands in sixth place in the field of 75 of the top college golfers in the nation. Redman had four birdies and two bogeys in a consistent performance on the par 71 course on Monday.
Nimmer also had a 69, his second straight under-par round. Nimmer had seven birdies and five bogeys in scoring his 69 on Monday. He had an opening round 70 and his 139 total is tied for 18th entering Tuesday’s final round.
William Nottingham had his second straight round of even par 71. The sophomore had six birdies on Tuesday, but also had a double bogey and four bogeys. But, he finished strong with birdies on his last two holes to jump into a tie for 31st place.
Freshman Turk Pettit and Kyle Cottam are both tied for 54th place with a 146 score for 36 holes. Cottam had his second straight round of two-over-par 73. Pettit had a 72 to be Clemson’s final counting score on Monday. He was four-over-par through six holes, then played the last 12 holes at three under to finish one over for his round.
