TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Clemson Tigers conclude their Roberta Alison Invite run. Leigh Van Zyl and Alexandra Anttila made an impressive doubles run, and a great singles run for Van Zyl.
Van Zyl beat Barber (Tulane) 6-1, 0-6,10-5 in an impressive match to clinch third place in her singles flight.
In doubles, Van Zyl and Anttila beat Samford 6-2 to advance to the doubles final. The pair fell short after a hard-fought doubles final.
“This was a great tournament with plenty of positives to take back to Clemson,” said associate head coach Tom Rees. “We are really pleased with how the ladies competed all weekend. Onwards and upwards, go Tigers!”
The Tigers are set to compete in their final fall tournament next week at the Auburn Hidden Duals in Auburn, Alabama. Stay tuned for more information on their upcoming tournament.
