September 26 – Box Score
Clemson, S.C. – After closing out the regular season slate with a 2-1 victory over Boston College, the Clemson women’s soccer team returns to the pitch to take on the Florida State Seminoles on November 3 in the ACC Quarterfinals in Tallahassee, Fla. The match will kick off at 1 p.m. on ACC Network with live stats available on Stat Broadcast.
Earning the 7-seed in the ACC Championship, the Tigers look to carry momentum from their last two matches against the 2-seeded Seminoles. Freshman Hal Hershfelt has stepped up tremendously in the final regular season games, scoring game-winning-goals against both Pitt and Boston College. Hershfelt’s back-to-back efforts would tie her for the team lead for game-winning goals and make all of her goals on the year coming in game-winning fashion.
Clemson and Florida State met earlier in the season with the Seminoles walking away with the 2-1 win, making it Clemson’s only home loss in 2019 and their first loss of the season after starting 7-0-1. In their September 26 match, the Seminoles got off to an early lead with goals in the 10th and 16th minute before freshman Maliah Morris brought the Tigers within one in the final minute of the first half.
However, despite this year’s results, the last time the Tigers traveled to Tallahassee they defeated the eventual National Champions 1-0 off a Miranda Weslake header. Seven of Clemson’s starters from that match return to this season’s lineup, with all but one of the field players recording points in the 2019 season.
