Tigers Hold Final Practice in Preparation for Music City Bowl

Dec. 26, 2009

Nashville, TN – The Tiger football team held its last practice of the 2009 season in Nashville on Christmas Day. The Tigers will rest for the next 48 hours in preparation for the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl against Kentucky on Sunday at 8:30 PM EST.

The 80-minute practice at Giacosa Stadium on the campus of Father Ryan High School saw the 19 seniors complete their final practice in a Tiger uniform. Seniors Kevin Alexander, Thomas Austin, Durrell Barry, Jess Bowers, Crezdon Butler, Jeremy Campbell, Sadat Chambers, Chris Chancellor, Kavell Conner, Jamarcus Grant, Kyle Johnson, Cory Lambert, Michael Palmer, George Rabon, Ricky Sapp, Rendrick Taylor, and Ronald Watson are a part of a senior class that has won 32 games in the last four seasons and has a chance to win a 33rd on Sunday. No Tiger senior class has won more than 32 games since the 1993 senior class won 33.

The Tigers had their normal Thursday practice and spent the first 25 minutes on special teams before the offense and defense went up against the scout team for the remainder of practice. The elements were also a factor for the second day in a row, as the mercury dipped into the low 30s with steady winds of 10-15 miles per hour. There were no injuries as a result of Friday’s practice.

The team will travel to LP Field on Friday night to attend the NFL game between the Tennessee Titans and San Diego Chargers. Then on Saturday, the Tigers will hold a walkthrough before facing the Wildcats on Sunday night. The Music City Bowl is the only bowl game on Sunday and will be televised nationally by ESPN.
