Tigers Head West For Clover Cup

Clemson, S.C. – With three events under their belts, Head Coach Kelley Hester’s team travels west to take part in the 54-hole Clover Cup held at the 6,184-yard, par 72 Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. The tournament will span from March 12-14 with 18 holes being played each day. It will be the Tigers’ final event before closing out the regular season at home with the Clemson Invitational from March 26-28.

A lineup consisting of Annabelle Pancake, Ivy Shepherd, Savannah Grewal, Callista Rice, Lindsay May, and Gracyn Burgess will make the trip for the Tigers. 12 teams and 71 competitors will make up the field at this year’s Clover Cup with Arizona State acting as host of the event.

Pancake, Clemson’s low finisher at the FSU Match Up, will compete out of the top spot for the Tigers. Rice, the only senior on the roster, will make her season debut out of the fourth position while Burgess will be the Tigers’ lone individual at the tournament.

The Tigers, who are coming off back-to-back fourth place finishes at the FSU Match-Up and Palmetto Spring Invitational, look to add to their season resume. The Clover Cup, which was set for last season from March 13-15, 2020, was the last event the Tigers traveled to before shutting down due to COVID-19. The Clemson team never teed off the competition despite playing through a practice round.

Finishing tied sixth at the FSU Match Up, Annabelle Pancake has seen a vast improvement in her young career in just three events. The freshman from Zionsville, Ind. boasted rounds of 77-74-70 to finish with a 221 score across 54 holes. Her final round 70 was the Tigers’ only round at the under-par threshold through the event.

Shepherd and Grewal both finished tied for 12th across the players leaderboard in Tallahassee, Fla. Grewal had a career-best finish with rounds of 74-73-76 — she was tied for the Tigers’ low golfer in two of the three rounds.

Clemson will tee off in the first group on hole one alongside Arizona and Arizona State with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m. and continuing every nine minutes. Live scoring of the tournament can be accessed via Golfstat.
