Clemson, S.C. – The Clemson women’s golf team concluded play at the Army Rangers Lead The Way Fund Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate on Tuesday, staying put on the leaderboard in eighth place. The tournament marked the season-opener for the Tigers, who played their first event in nearly a year at The Founders Golf Club in Sarasota, Fla.
Oklahoma State overtook Ole Miss on the final day of competition to claim the team title with a two-shot advantage at 15-under-par, while Maja Stark of the Cowgirls claimed the individual title with a dominant 15-under performance through 54 holes, solidifying a six-shot victory.
Ivy Shepherd secured a top-15 finish in Florida, coming in at even par through three days of action. The junior fired a two-over 74 in the final day after recording scores of 72-70 through the first 36 holes.
Finishing five-over-par, sophomore Savannah Grewal put up her lowest score through the tournament in the final round and Clemson’s lowest score of the day, shooting one-over on Tuesday.
Alexandra Swayne and Annabelle Pancake fired three-over and four-over-par on the day, respectively. Both players knocked in three birdies, a mark that led the team on the final day of action. Pancake, who finished her first event as a Tiger, came into the clubhouse tied for 31st on the leaderboard while Swayne finished tied for 39th.
Clemson will return the course from Feb. 21-22 as they take part in the Palmetto Spring Intercollegiate held in Kiawah Island, S.C.
