Tigers Finish 3-0 in Doubles, Wrap Up Second Day of Gator Fall Invite

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Clemson Tigers went undefeated in doubles as three pairings earned wins against their respective opponents. Trey Stinchcomb, Spencer Whitaker and Max Smith all recorded singles victories as the Tigers completed the second day of the Gator Fall Invite.

“We have some important concepts on productive and successful habits our guys are trying to learn and become more aware of. Today was another great day of competition that tested our guys on these concepts. Great to see our guys making continuous strides in doubles and in singles, we have some room to grow,” Head Coach Brandon Wagner said. “Tomorrow is our last opportunity this fall together to work through some of these. Looking forward to seeing our guys take advantage of it tomorrow in both areas.”

In doubles, all three Tiger pairings defeated their opponents as Clemson continues to shine in doubles. The duo of Noa Vukadin and Max Smith defeated Florida’s Nate Bonetto and Tanapat Nirundorn, 6-3.

Marko Mesarovic and Matt Pitts took down Florida’s Aidan Kim and JanMagnus Johnson, 7-5 as the pairing recorded their second doubles victory in Gainesville. The third and final pairing to earn a win in doubles was Spencer Whitaker and Stewart Aronson as they defeated UCF’s Emilio Sanchez and Luca Hotze, 7-6.

In singles, Trey Stinchcomb earned a win over Nirundorn in a three-set thriller (6-4, 4-6, 7-5) as he recorded his second singles victory of the invite. Whitaker took down Sanchez, 6-1, 7-6 (3) while Smith defeated Hotze in two quick sets (6-4, 6-2).

The Tigers will prepare for the third and final day of the Gator Fall Invite as they conclude competition tomorrow, October 28th.
