The Seminoles took an early lead as they clinched the doubles point  with #29 Petra Hule and Lesedi Jacobs leading the charge.

In singles, Jenna Thompson set the tone early with a 6-4, 6-1 win on Court 3 over Lesedi Jacobs. Florida State responded, claiming the next three singles behind a two set victory from #33 Hule, ultimately winning the match for the Seminoles.. Ali DeSpain earned a first-set victory over Olympe Lancelot, 6-0. Lancelot forced a third set, however, DeSpain held on to win 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3). Additionally, Samantha Buyckx battled back from a first-set loss to Kianah Otosono to take set two 6-4, ultimately winning the match 6-7(5-7), 6-4, 6-3.

“Tough match,” remarked Head Coach Christy Lynch. “We didn’t compete as well as we could have in doubles and FSU executed very well. The girls fought so hard on singles. It was great to see Ali come through in a tough match at the end. FSU was just a little better today!”

Up Next: The Tigers travel to take Miami on Sunday for an 11 a.m. match against the Hurricanes.
