Tigers Fall to No. 4 Florida State

Clemson, S.C. — The Clemson women’s tennis team fell in an 5-2 decision to No. 4 Florida State on Friday afternoon. The Tigers fall to 1-4 in ACC-action this season while the Seminoles improve to 2-1.

The Tigers fought hard in doubles as Mackenzy Middlebrooks and Eleni Louka shut out the Seminoles on court two. However, Florida State earned the doubles point with back-to-back wins on courts three and one, respectively. In singles, the Tigers dropped three-straight, allowing the Seminoles to clinch the match at 4-0. Louka earned the first point of the match for Clemson after No. 104 Nandini Das retired with Louka holding the 3-2 advantage in the third set. Sydney Riley added another point for the Tigers when No. 115 Sasha Hall retired at 4-6, 6-2, 4-3. With the win, Riley extends her winning to 13 matches.

Of Note:

  • It marks the Tigers’ fourth consecutive loss to Florida State
  • Sydney Riley’s extends her winning streak to 13 matches.
  • Eleni Louka earned her second career win against a ranked opponent. In the fall, the Cyprus-native defeated No. 99 Maty Cancini at the Seminole Showdown.

Up Next: The Tigers return to The Duckworth Family Tennis Facility for a double header on Sunday when they take on No. 4 NC State and Troy at noon and 5 p.m., respectively.
