Tigers Fall to No. 21 NC State in Final Home Match of 2019

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s team dropped its final home match of the 2019 season by a score of 4-0 to 21st-ranked NC State on Sunday at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. The Tigers, who have now faced eight ranked opponents in 2019, including six over the last eight matches, are now 8-15 (1-9 ACC), while the Wolfpack improved to 15-9 (6-4 ACC) with the victory.

Prior to the match, Clemson honored two seniors, Simon Baudry and Reed Rabideau, as well as senior equipment manager Chandler Brown. Rabideau, the Tigers’ team captain who has been out the majority of the 2018-19 season due to injury, was able to return to the court for his final home match, playing at No. 3 doubles against NC State on Sunday.

The Wolfpack claimed the doubles point with wins on Courts 2 and 3, and clinched the victory with wins at No. 4, No. 1 and No. 5 singles. When play was abandoned, Clemson freshmen Teodor Giusca and Mike Agee had both won first sets against their NC State opponents, at No. 3 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

Clemson is on the road for its final two regular season matches, as the tigers are at Boston College on Friday, April 12 at 4 p.m. and at No. 22 Notre Dame on Sunday, April 14 at 11:30 a.m. The 2019 ACC Championships will be held April 17-21 in Cary, N.C.
