CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Tigers (10-9, 1-6 ACC) put up a fight against No. 16 North Carolina (12-6, 7-2 ACC) in Chapel Hill Friday night but came up short, 7-0.
Teodor Giusca and Max Smith played phenomenal tennis on Court 2 for the Tigers, defeating No. 67 Zapp/Kania, 6-0 for an emphatic first doubles win. The Tar Heels then won on Court 3, shortly before No. 5 Cernoch/Kiger narrowly defeated Ryuhei Azuma and Spencer Whitaker, 6-4, securing the doubles point.
The Tar Heels continued its impressive play into singles, picking up wins on every court to take the match, 7-0.
Up next, the Tigers will travel to play Duke on Sunday, April 3. First serve against the Blue Devils will be at noon.
